Gijouhei Shintaku

Gijouhei Shintaku, the 5th Division Lieutenant, considers himself to be the Squire of Gingitsune Kaen. He is a man who earnestly believes that human society achieved enlightenment in the form of medieval chivalry, and that the personal codes of honor they created far surpass those of any other culture, including that of Soul Society. This is what drew him to the 5th Division. His Shikai, Ryodan (Phalanx), is a halberd-scythe that can manifest copies of itself to form walls and encircling barriers. It can also create singular halberds that appear in front of all enemies within a hundred yards. These weapons move in perfect sync with Shintaku's original, making him an expert at culling large numbers of enemies with minimal effort. He is, in effect, a one-man knight-squadron.
